After our fifth Premier League game without a win, Fulham are slipping perilously towards the lower end of the table.

The 2-0 home defeat, at the hands of Aston Villa, wasn`t a result we expected but we need to pick ourselves up, dust ourselves down and look forward to the next match.

After the defeat, Roy Hodgson addressed the press and had this to say,

“It looked like a goalless draw for long periods of the first half – but we were hit by the goals and ended suffering a bad home defeat.”

“The first goal came down to a lack of experience by Chris Smalling, but the way we conceded the second goal was even more calamitous.”

“We came out for the second half and gave it a go – yet Aston Villa are a very good side defensively and proved very difficult to break down.”

“We looked more likely to pull a goal back after the break than Villa were to extending their lead, but we were short of luck.”

“We are suffering from some bad injuries and that is not helping the team. Players are operating in positions they are not comfortable with.”

The exact opposite to last year when, blessed with god fortune, we sailed through the season with very few injuries.

One of those things I suppose!
