Having made his first signing of the summer, strengthening the gap left by the departure of Chris Smalling, to Manchester United, Roy Hodgson was lavish in his praise of Philippe Senderos.

Hodgson, linked to a move to Liverpool with alarming regularity in the media, had this to say about the Swiss international.

“Philippe is a player I have admired for a very long time, since he captained Switzerland to the U17 championship.”

“He is a strong defender, who has great aerial presence at both ends of the field and a superb work ethic.”

“I am really looking forward to working with Philippe next season.”

Now is that a clear indication that the Liverpool job doesn`t really appeal to Roy?
