Goal.com, attributing a story to The Daily Star, is reporting that Arsene Wenger is preparing a player-plus-cash offer for Brede Hangeland.
The offer is suggested to be £10m plus Swiss international Philippe Senderos.
The 24-year-old spent last season on loan at AC Milan. Senderos has been linked with a number of clubs recently, including Hertha Berlin, Hamburg, Bordeaux, Aston Villa and Sunderland.
Whether any of these rumors are true, one would think that where there`s smoke, there`s fire.
It seems clear that Senderos is out of favor in North London and is likely headed for the exit.
While Hangeland is certainly a better central defender, I think Senderos is a decent, young player, and with the right coaching could be very good indeed.
I think £10m plus a natural positional replacement would be a good bit of business.
And, as it appears we`re not prepared to pay Hangeland the weekly wage he deserves, this might be a good solution for all involved.
I must confess that I hope this rumor is true!
