Last season, Harvey Elliott not only became the youngest player to represent Fulham in a Premier League fixture but also the youngest ever player to play in the Premier League.
That moment, against Wolverhampton Wanderers, created a piece of history that could stay in the record book for quite a time.
It also led us to ponder over what kind of Fulham future the teenager had.
Well it appears not much of one!
The 16-year-old, who cannot sign a professional contract until he is 17 next April, is set to leave Craven Cottage.
Harvey, instead of gracing the Championship next season, with the odd appearance or two, has declined a scholarship at Fulham and instead, according to The BBC, is set to join the current holders of the Champions League trophy, Liverpool.
But whilst a move to Anfield, according to our quoted source, looks imminent, it’s also implied that two European giants, Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain, were interested in our talented teenager.
Now whether if Fulham had retained their Premier League status, last season, would have had a different bearing on the outcome of the teenager, when it comes to where he’ll be playing his football, we’re not sure.
But what is so gut-wrenching bad about the whole scenario is that Fulham, for all their efforts in bringing the teenager through the system, will receive only a minimal compensation payment for their troubles.
However, if we are to lose Harvey then it would be churlish not to wish him all the best in his future career, hopefully he’ll go on to fulfil the promise he has shown and enjoy a successful and flourishing career.
