Now I`ve been past Harrods many times but never ventured into it!
If I have to be honest it`s not my kind of gaff, too touristy, too posh and too damned expensive. But I can understand the lure of visiting this national institution if you are visiting London, the charm that goes with venturing into one of the most exclusive shops in London is probably enough for the best chill-seekers of them all.
Therefore I can understand why the Shakhtar Donetsk players, whilst in London for the Europa League fixture tonight might want to, between training, fit in a trip to Harrods. After all if you`re paid a fortune and you fancy taking a present home to the wife or girl-friend; is there a better place to earn kudos with your partner?
Well that was the plan but as we all know, plans can go astray, especially when the attire you`re wearing leads those in charge of security to evict you under the banner of being undesirables. It`s hardly the best way to treat your opposition ahead of a prestige European fixture is it?
A spokesperson, employed by the store Mr Al Fayed owns, had this to say about the affair,
“The staff said a group of customers was too big and suspicious”
“All were in tracksuits. The players said this was a football team and had no habit of taking tuxedos to training to go shopping. But the explanations were fruitless.”
Let`s hope they don`t take it out on us on the football pitch tonight!
