Round about this time last season, as we were charging towards a memorable appearance in the Europa League Final, Zoltan Gera was playing a prominent part.

Our Hungarian international, signed from West Bromwich Albion, finally appeared to have secured a place in our starting eleven, being named our ‘Player of the Year` in 2010, almost a year on things looked to have turned sour though.

With his contract coming to an end this summer it`s looking very likely that Zoltan will be leaving Craven Cottage on a free transfer.

Already there`s been, according to the gossip columns, interest from Italy and Spain for the player`s services.

Is Gera`s time up at Craven Cottage or should steps be taken to keep him on the books?

  • He’s been a solid professional for us, particularly useful during our European adventure, but he’s never contributed much in the PL. I’ll wish him good luck, but letting him go is the correct decision.

  • agreed… for whatever reason he doesn’t seem to work out in the PL… time to shed some salary…

  • true did great for us in europe….but if he was our best player now i would be concerned. not a striker or winger just a roamer around the park. Good luck to him shame we did not get any dosh….but we got him on a free…
