Fulham – Festive Make or Break Time?

I wonder how much credence Roy Hodgson would give to qualifying for the Europa League for a second successive season?

The reason I ask is that we`re currently seven points adrift of Tottenham who are currently in that final qualifying place.

We do, off course, play Spurs next and a win, at the Cottage, would see us close the gap whilst also continuing our fine form of recent weeks, form that has seen us beat Liverpool and Manchester United at home.

In fact, if dreams of a second Europa League campaign are prominent, then this festive period takes on even more importance, with Aaron Hughes commenting to the media,

‘Every year the Christmas period is important. With so many games in such a short space of time, there can be a lot of movement in the league, so it’s important to have a good, solid Christmas.”

‘We need to pick up as many points as we can and try and stay where we are in the league. We don’t want to be looking over our shoulders – we want to push on.”

‘Confidence is good, and if we can keep that level of performance up we’re going to get our fair share of points.’

As we`re all well aware, a failure over the festive period can define a season; let`s hope we come out the other side looking good!
