Fulham – Failing Away?

It`s always been accepted that we`re a family club, that our following isn`t as passionate as the remainder of those clubs in the Premier League, except perhaps Wigan.

Our away support has often been ridiculed due to its size. In fact I can recall taking a tour of our neighbours ground, Stamford Bridge, and being told the yellow seats (reserved for stewards) would suffice to house the Fulham support when they visit Stamford Bridge.

Instead of punching the guide on the nose, I laughed along at his joke.

Unfortunately, at Villa Park, it was obvious that our away support had shrunken further. One Vital Villa member was moved to describe it as – the worst he could ever remember at Villa Park!

With a Carling Cup trip to Shrewsbury tonight, I dread to think how many Fulham supporters will make the effort. Suffice to say, I have this feeling it could struggle to reach three figures.

Just why is this happening?

Has anyone got an answer?

Are we letting the team down?
