If Danny Murphy starts for Fulham tomorrow, there`s every chance that he`ll end up on the score sheet.
Danny has something of a stranglehold over United, scoring regularly against them whenever he`s faced them, either for Liverpool or during his Fulham career.
Ahead of the titanic clash this Sunday, Danny has spoken about his stranglehold over United, remarking,
“Although we`ve beaten them two years on the spin, that doesn`t mean you go into this one thinking it will be three in a row.”
“But it`s funny how players have teams they tend to do well against and as well as scoring three winners for Liverpool at Old Trafford I`ve managed to score a couple here for Fulham.”
“Maybe it`s something ingrained in me, being brought up as a fan to love Liverpool and hate Man United. It`s strange, and I can`t fathom it out, but long may it continue.”
We`ll second that.
But how does Sir Alex feel about his nemesis? To Danny`s surprise he doesn`t appear to hold any grudges relating to Murphy`s scoring antics, with Danny further commenting,
“I`m sure Sir Alex is getting a bit sick of me now and would probably like to see me injured this weekend.”
“I`ve met him a couple of times at charity functions and I was pleasantly surprised by his jovial manner.”
“But what can you say about him? He`s probably one of the greatest managers of all time.”
I guess there`s mutual respect on both sides.
But will Danny continue his fine run against United this Sunday? We can only hope so!
