Fulham – Exercising Caution?

A common thread on Vital Fulham over the last few weeks has been our slow progress in the transfer market.

Our readership has bemoaned the fact that apart from Kelly and Riise there has been little progress with regards to bolstering the apparently small squad.

But, with the country in the deepest recession for many a decade, our club captain has hit the nail on the head with regards to the risk spending a huge outlay on new talent may incur when he remarks,

“If we get to the group stages there are more games so it gets more difficult in terms of our squad size.”

“The hierarchy at the club are in a dilemma as you don`t want too many players sitting there.”

“But Europe`s a new adventure; we have a squad of internationals so we have nothing to fear.”

The risk being that of Roy brings in five or six new names and we crash out of the Europa League fairly early on, we could be forced to offload – at bargain basement prices, players in the January transfer window, which would not be good business sense!
