Fulham – Etuhu Wants Golden Boot

I knew this one would grab your attention.

You’ll be quite shocked to hear that, while I may be exaggerating with his realistic Golden-Boot winning chances, midfield maestro Dickson Etuhu genuinely wants to make goals a part of his all-round game.

All well and good, a passer-by may think, but as a Fulham fan who’s used to his hard tackling, brutish ways, it comes as a quite outlandish statement to make.

The Nigerian has only scored one Premier League goal in his time at Craven Cottage, which incidentally spans just over two years now. It came against Manchester City and it was a goal I remember fondly, but, is that one strike basis enough to consider him an out-and-out goalscorer in the middle of the park?

It must be said it’s unlikely, but the big-man remains confident, explaining that new boss Hughes is offering him more freedom.

‘The gaffer is encouraging it.

‘I used to be more of a box-to-box player before I came to Fulham, but Roy wanted me to sit in front of the defence more.

‘This Manager, though, is encouraging me to drive forward a bit more and it`s working really well. Hopefully now you`ll start seeing me score a few goals.’

Something we want to see, or is this the fantasy of a man who wants to hit the limelight?
