Fulham – Elm Looks For Stay

Bobby Zamora’s injury has caused quite a stir here at Fulham. With a minimum of 10 or so weeks without the former West Ham man, we’ve been rattling our brains for possible temporary cover.

One simple solution would be that of David Elm; A man of similar physique and playing style to Bobby.

However, a major stumbling block would be the player’s lack of first team action. 1 Carling Cup appearance is all the Swede can boast about, and to be honest, we, the fans, know little about the lad.

That’s why the news that Elm plans to stay here strikes me as a little odd. Obviously, I see the temptation in playing for the mighty Fulham FC, but I’d be a little saddened by the lack of competitive football.

Elm, quoted on Sky talking about his future plans, said;

‘Right now I have a contract with Fulham and I love it here. What then happens is something we will see. The dream scenario is that I will grow enough so that I can get a lot of time playing here.’

Hodgson is a keen admirer of the former Kalmar FF striker and is said to be happy to extend his contract, claiming he is an ‘interesting player’. Whilst not being the most flattering superlative, it’s a positive sign that Hodgson sees the man as a good prospect for the future.

So, with Elm planning on extending his stay, could he replace Bobby in the meantime?
