After edging past Wycombe Wanderers in the Capital One Cup first round, Fulham supporters were eagerly awaiting the outcome of the draw for the second round last night.

The draw, scheduled to take place after the conclusion of the first round tie between Doncaster Rovers and Leeds United, was delayed slightly when the two Yorkshire sides drew 1-1 and the tie had to be decided on penalties, a shoot-out that Doncaster eventually won.

However, as is often the case with cup draws, the first rule is to hope for a home tie and the second rule is to hope (in the early rounds of the competition) for a side you can beat.

In both cases Fulham came up trumps last night when the draw gave Fulham Football Club a home tie against Sheffield United.

The tie will take place in the week commencing 24th August and I`ve every confidence that Fulham have the ability to make it to the third round when those English clubs who are participating in European competition will enter the fray when the competition will get serious.
