After suffering a disappointing loss to the Czech Republic, losing by 4-2, the USA team is looking for inspiration as it heads off to South Africa for the 2010 World Cup tournament!

The USA, who have fond memories of South Africa having reached the final of the Confederations Cup last summer, will be looking for the senior players to show their mettle and produce the goods.

One such player is our own Clint Dempsey.

Clint joined up with the USA squad after having one of his best seasons for Fulham scoring eight goals and also netting that remarkable winner against Juventus in the Europa League.

Speaking about his role in the USA side, Clint had this to say to the media,

“I`m the guy people now look at to step up in these big games. Hopefully, I can do that.”

“I like pressure and I like the responsibility to do that. My goals tally has gone up in three consecutive seasons in the Premier League so I`ll take that confidence with me into this competition.”

Can Clint make his mark on the 2010 World Cup? We`d certainly like to think so although not at England`s expense!
