Fulham Crash Out Of The FA Cup To League Two Opposition

|

Could this season get any worse?

Today, taking a break from our Premier League woes, with a FA Cup 3rd round tie against Oldham Athletic, it was supposed to be a day when the Cottagers tasted what is a rarity this season, a victory.

But it seems that the League Two side hadn’t read the script.

Matters appeared to be going Fulham’s way when Denis Odoi gave them the lead, in the 52nd minute, but Oldham Athletic, to their credit, refused to roll over.

With 76 minutes on the clock, they were level when Ryan Sessegnon gave away a penalty and Sam Surridge beat Marcus Bettinelli from the spot.

But, minutes later, Fulham had a chance to edge ahead when they were also awarded a penalty but Aleksandar Mitrovic, on as a substitute, saw his effort saved.

To rub salt in the wounds, with just two minutes left of normal time Oldham netted what would turn out to be the winner when Callum Lang scored with a header.

A sad day for Fulham Football Club who now only have Premier League survival to fight for.
