Lee Cook goes back from whence he came!

It`s the sort of headline we`d been anticipating in recent weeks despite all the bluster about Fulham wanting to recoup the full fee they paid Queens Park Rangers for the winger who never pulled on a Fulham shirt in anger last season..

The fact that Queens Park Rangers, a club supposedly oozing at the seams with cash have snatched him on a season long loan is more than a little annoying, quoting the usual guff about a permanent deal possibly following doesn’t stem the anger within me.

Cook, twenty five years of age, returns to Loftus Road after seeing a knee injury wreck any dream of establishing a Premier League career and is full of the joys of spring with regards to his return to Loftus Road commenting on the official QPR site,

‘I am absolutely delighted to be back.’

‘Once it was clear I could leave Fulham there was only one club I wanted to move to.’

Now doesn`t that make you all feel better!

In fact the soothing words of a face that is definitely fit for radio rather than television, that of the Queens Park Rangers manager, Iain Dowie, only adds further insult to injury when it purrs,

‘Lee is a class act and will add to the already healthy options we’ve got in the attacking third.

‘He’s proven at this level, has great quality and he’ll certainly have some fire in his belly after a very frustrating season with Fulham.’

In fact the more you delve into matters the more you start to hatch the notion that, perhaps, Cook was always destined to be a hoop.

The Loftus Road sporting director, Gianni Paladini muttered,

‘This is a truly special day for the football club.”

‘I’m delighted to have him back here. We’re really excited about his return and can’t wait to see him back in the famous blue and white hoops.’

Now if Lee Cook goes on to play every game next season, I`ll not be the only journalist smelling a rat, will I?

Let’s hope we draw them in the FA Cup, I like a bit of added spice!
