News has broken that Fulham Football Club have commissioned a statue to honour one of the greats who has appeared for our club.

The news was broken with the club issuing a tweet that read,

“FFC has commissioned a statue of George Cohen MBE to be displayed at Craven Cottage”

The player who is to be honoured is George Cohen who was part of the 1966 England World Cup winning team.

Cohen, now seventy-six years of age, was a loyal servant to Fulham Football Club sending his entire playing career, a career that spanned thirteen years, at Craven Cottage, making appearances.

As well as playing in the 1966 World Cup Final, Cohen made 37 starts for England between 1956 and 1969.

Here at Vital Fulham we look forward to the unveiling of the statue.
