Fulham boss Chris Coleman commented today…

‘Our achievements always seem to be played down, especially if we win a game that we’re not expected to win.

‘Last year people only talked about us because we were near the bottom.

‘Now we’re at the other end and no one cares. Maybe we’re not one of the sexy clubs because we don’t have the same resources.

‘But we try to harness that and almost stick two fingers up at everyone else to prove them wrong.

‘Everyone’s been going on about how well Everton and Aston Villa have done in the Premiership this season.

‘But we’ll go one point behind Everton and jump above Villa if we win this weekend.’

Coleman considers that the impressive start is extra special because of the huge injury list so early in thee season.

He added: ‘We would have been very happy with ninth place with a full squad. But it makes it more remarkable that we’ve done it without the likes of Jimmy Bullard, Papa Diop and Luis Boa Morte.

‘Everyone’s given a little bit extra to make up the difference.

‘We have a nice tight unit and definitely haven’t got any bad eggs.

‘Although there’s a long way to go, if we keep chipping away then hopefully we’ll do well.’

But Coleman warned his side to beware Everton striker Andy Johnson.

He said: ‘He’s quick, he’s very busy, he gets himself into dangerous positions – and you must not go near him in the box because if you do it’s a penalty.’

It’s great to see a manager with the passion and nounce to speak his mind, Fulham
never get the recognition that they sometimes deserve and you can guarantee that if Coleman says something he means it unlike some of the others!
