After being nothing more than a standby for Mark Schwarzer, in case the Australian picked up an injury, and spending periods on loan, the name of David Stockdale is suddenly springing to prominence.

Yesterday the tabloid press were tipping our young stopper to be in the European Championship squad selected by Fabio Capello for the first two qualifying fixtures against Bulgaria and Switzerland.

Capello, who was at Craven Cottage last Sunday, has obviously been impressed by David`s performances.

Unfortunately, nothing runs smoothly in this wonderful game of ours and despite playing his part in keeping our unbeaten Premier League run going, in the 2-2 draw art Blackpool, there are now serious doubts about Stockdale being available for selection.

Whilst performing his duties, Stockdale turned an ankle and the injury will be assessed before the Fulham medical staff declare to Fabio and his team whether Stockdale is available for selection or will remain at Fulham for medical care.

Let`s hope it is the former of the two shall we!

  • This is all a little much. If he plays well the remainder of this season, then fine, but enough is enough. Keep the jersey for the rest of this season before we start this national team talk.

  • true teddy…..we dont want his profile to be raised to high…..wenger might come calling or sir alex

  • Why isnt he? Have you saw who’s in….Scott Carson, Capello is *****in discrace he has not got a clue what he is doing!!

  • I’ve just read the lad is out for a couple of months and that leaves the England squad Fulham-less this time around. So much for an FFC double!

  • fack… he’s out for two months… what a disappointing game indeed… i don’t know if he deserves the call up, but i guess behind joe hart, who is there?
