Popular Fulham midfielder Claus Jenson still hopes for a new deal.

Jensen, whose career with Fulham has been plagued by injuries since his switch from Charlton in 2004, told the club website: ‘On a personal level it’s nice for me to be back playing. When you have such a long period out there’s nothing like running onto the pitch, even if it sometimes doesn’t go your way like in the first half against Everton.

‘I’ve been plagued by injuries but hopefully we won’t be talking about that anymore. The strains I have had may have been caused by a lack of strength in the core region and that’s what I’ve worked hard to really strengthen and I feel stronger than I have done in a long time.

‘The main thing is getting the chance to come back and prove yourself. I need to win over people’s confidence again which is completely fair and logical. Hopefully I can continue this form.

‘I feel great now, I’ve worked really hard to come back and I feel good. Whatever happens, I’ve always said that I’m very happy here so let’s see what happens.

‘In football you know when you’re in the squad you have to do the best you can and you know you’ll get chances. Every player at Fulham will be used this year and it’s about taking your chances when you get into the side. I’m trying to build confidence in people that I’m fit and back playing and it’s great that it’s going well.’
