After selling David Healy to Sunderland it was mentioned, in passing, by Roy Hodgson that Fulham were looking to purchase a holding midfielder, somebody to protect the back four.

Well if reports doing the rounds today are correct, our intended target is the Czech Republic international Jaroslav Plasil.

Plasil currently plays for Osasuna in La Liga and at twenty-six still has his best years ahead of him.

The reports suggest that Fulham are preparing a bid in the region of £2.5 million to tempt Osasuna to part with the player.

But, we do have rivals for his signature. The reports also quote that Aston Villa and Martin O`Neill are also sniffing around.

We`ll do our utmost to monitor developments and report back.

  • Plasil scored the second Czech Rep goal. against Turkey in Euros, the game which the Czechs then lost 2-3 after leading 2-0! That’s all I know.

  • good signing if it happens, we need a left footed player. However it won’t be the last. Roy said yesterday he is looking at bringing in at least another 2 or three, including a “tall, strong holding midfielder”

  • I just read an article saying that Kagiso Dikgacoi from Golden Arrows in South Africa will be signing in the next couple of days. From what I’ve found out he’s 23 yrs old, Defensive midfielder who’s played a fair few times for the South African team and started captaining his club side while he was still a youngster. Don’t know yet if he’s tall but sounds like a player with a good future. Roy would have watched him last week during the Australia vs South Africa game so i’m sure that if he does sign, Roy has definitely had a good look at him and see’s some potential.

  • rite so may i ask how many defensive midfield players we r on course to hav this season possibly 4 or 5 while we already hav andreasen, andranik, n smertin?
