Fulham Chasing International Class Defender?

Its bad enough trying to eek out articles when the season is in full flow!

It`s even harder when international football interrupts matters.

Today I trawled through two tabloids and found a mention of our fine club just once.

It came in an article relating to Michael Mancienne, the Chelsea youngster who plays for the England U21`s.

The article mentioned, but if you blinked you missed it, that Mancienne may be looking for a move away from that lot down the road to further his career.

Ahead of England`s vital clash with Wales tonight, he`s quoted as saying,

‘I understand the problem at Chelsea because there are so many top-quality players.’

‘But it can get you down when you are a regular with England U21’s but you go back to the reserve team. It’s very frustrating.’

‘My game has blossomed under Stuart Pearce and my education at Chelsea has been top class.’

‘But I am at a stage now where I need to play first-team football and feel ready to test myself at the highest level.’

‘I will keep trying to catch the boss’ eye but eventually you have to be honest and start thinking about what’s best for your career.’

Mancienne has already been on loan to Queens Park Rangers and if he were to join us, on a permanent or a loan basis, he`d join the select few who have played for the three major West London clubs (sorry Brentford – you don`t count!)

What do you reckon, would he be a good acquisition?
