We were all a bit low on Saturday evening after Liverpool beat us 1-0 with that late goal.

But, two days later the optimism we felt before the game has returned and the push to finish higher in the Premier League is as strong as ever.

In fact it`s getting harder and harder to quell talk of a possible European campaign with Brede Hangeland the latest to mull over the possibility of a few trips to the mainland.

Talking to the media, after the Liverpool defeat, Brede had this to say,

“It was disappointing to lose like that. But if we play well we could still have the best season Fulham have ever had in the Premier League.”

“I’m sure if you asked the players they would love to achieve it.”

“Some of the most memorable games I’ve taken part in have been in Europe. It would be great to make it.”

It would Brede but there are a large percentage of us who believe it may be a season too early for our squad.

  • I think 8th would be fine. Shows a significant improvement, and it will be our highest ever finish! Europe can be saved til 2010-11.

  • i hope not, but it could be… i’d be happy with 8th as long as brede stayed on another year. we should start strengthening the squad for europe and try to make a deep cup run next year so that all the additional players are happy with playing time…

  • I think we may make Europe through the fair play league anyway, but as has already been said it could be a step to far for the team this year unless MAF gives Roy a decent amount of cash to add to the squad. The general consensus is that you need at least an extra 4 players of Prem quality on top of the usual replacements, with our very small squad realistically we would need at least 6-7 players who were of first team quality so we are probably talking about a transfer kitty in the region of 40 million, unless Roy is going to use his vast knowledge of Europe and find some more bargains like Hangeland or Dickson Etuhu, cause let?s face know one rated him when he came here and how many would of said that he was a good replacement for BullSh*t.

  • I think it may be a step too far for our first season back after a relegation battle the previous season. 8th would be fantastic but I feel because of the hard fixtures we got coming up 10th/11th place will be more realistic. Though still a great step forward and hopefully for next season not two steps backwards.

  • It doesn’t look as though England will be selected as one of the winning fair play leagues…England is 3rd still isn’t it??
