Roy Hodgson has claimed that sought after defender Brede Hangeland could be ready to talk about a new contract.

The defender has had a fine season for Fulham, and this form hasn’t gone unnoticed by other clubs, with several ‘bigger clubs’ believed to be watching the Norwegian giant in the hope of luring him away from Craven Cottage in the summer.

Hangeland had already admitted that he could leave Fulham if this bigger club did come knocking but according to Hodgson a new contract is being prepared for the 27-year-old, who he also says would be interested in signing the deal: ‘We’re in the throes now of preparing a contract suggestion for Brede that he’s more than happy to see, and that’s the situation,’ Hodgson told the media. ‘He certainly hasn’t turned anything down as we haven’t as yet made him an offer.

‘But he knows we’re going to make him an offer and he’s very happy to talk to us about that offer.

‘That’s something which I’m sure will be resolved in the future.’

News that Hangeland could be interested in signing a new contract with Fulham must be something that is good to hear, but do you really think Brede Hangeland will still be playing for Fulham next season?
