At the third attempt, Fulham registered their first win of the 2018 / 2019 Premier League campaign beating Burnley, 4-2, at Craven Cottage.

The Cottagers got off to the perfect start when their summer signing, Jean Michael Seri, with just four minutes on the clock, fired in a magnificent opener from all of 25-yards out.

But, Burnley were not behind for long equalising six minutes later when Jeff Hendrick scored after some good work by Aaron Lennon.

Fulham continued to take the fight to Burnley and were rewarded in the thirty-sixth minute when Aleksandar Mitrovic was in the perfect spot to head home an excellent cross from Tom Cairney.

Burnley, pushing forward for an equaliser, were then caught on the break and were to fall 3-1 behind when Mitrovic scored his second header of the game.

Leading 3-1, everything looked rosy for Fulham but Burnley were to reduce the arrears in the forty-first minute when James Tarkowski scored.

After a five-goal first half thriller, the second half was never going to match that goal fest. However, Fulham did make the game safe, with a fourth goal, when with just seven minutes remaining Andre Schurrle scored to ease the nerves of the Fulham faithful.

Mitrovic had several chances in the half, to score a hat-trick with the closest the Serbian coming when his shot hit the post.
