One rather minute rumour circulating the ever-so-needy grapevine is that of a proposed Summer switch for one Yaroslav Rakitsky.

Whilst being a general unknown to the likes of you and me, should there be truth behind the rumour, I’m sure it is a case of Roy Hodgson unearthing yet another sparkling gem.

With the departure of Chris Smalling all but inevitable, this small yet potent link with the Ukranian could be seen as a direct replacement for the Manchester United bound defender.

With cover at the back wearing thin, it would seem Hodgson has taken a ganders at our last Europa League opponents and, let’s say, ‘seen something he’s liked.’

At a mere 20 years of age, Rakitsky has proven himself well worthy as a centre half, gaining 10 Under 21 matches and even having the audacity to score a goal in the process.

While information is weak on the youngster, I still hold faith in Roy’s transfer market nous.
