Fulham – Are We Goal Shy Or Not?

We`ve already reported today that Roy Hodgson, according to some sources, is eyeing up a swoop for another striker, perhaps the following may have influenced his decision.

It`s plain to see that, despite our investment in Zamora and Johnson, we`ve not materialised into a free-scoring side as of yet.

Obviously, it`s early days yet and whilst there may be a few mutterings on the terraces, Roy, on the surface isn`t showing any overdue concern, remarking in a recent interview,

“Of course I`m concerned.”

“We are creating plenty of chances but not taking them.”

“But that is our life – you cannot just shrug your shoulders and say it does not matter.”

“Had we been taking our early chances in the past few games we would probably have gone on to win.”

“You have to hope that the players in your squad are players who can take chances.”

“I believe, looking at our squad and the players we have here, that we will not fall down constantly in that area but I cannot guarantee that we won`t fall from time to time.”

Some wise words indeed but I can`t help thinking that unless Johnson gets off the mark soon, the pressure relating to that first goal will be a heavy burden!
