Fulham – Adams Chuffed With Bobby

The links between Fulham and Micky Adams seem to form a list which fails to end. With the Whites and Adams’ side, Port Vale, locking horns in the Carling Cup tonight, the connection between Bobby Zamora and Micky Adams, one which I knew nothing about, has come to the forefront.

With now fan favourite, Bobby Zamora, failing to break into the Bristol Rovers side in his far-more-youthful days, Micky Adams snapped him up for his Brighton and Hove Albion side and gave the forward the kick-start he needed.

He made a big impact on the South Coast, and I’m sure Bobby is eternally grateful to Micky for making the signing. His star performances and excellent goal tally led to an offer from Premier League Tottenham; one which the 29 year old didn’t hesitate to take up.

The two, Zamora and Adams, seemingly still keep in contact;

‘We texted each other last week before the England game to thank each other for the past at Brighton. I was proud of the fact he played for England and I hope he gets a few more opportunities,’ Adams told the Fulham Chronicle.

‘Bobby is a great kid who always knew where the back of the net was. He was a very intelligent footballer, I didn`t have to tell him things twice and if I gave him a rollicking he didn`t sulk.’

I’m sure you all agree with me when I say thank you for making Bobby what he is today, and, on top of that, a thank you for his time in charge here at the Cottage!
