Fulham – A Sad Day

Today, a lowly Thursday, has become quite significant. It’s the day Fulham let their followers down.

I never thought it would come. I heard the news early this morning, and to be honest, it didn’t shock me, but it still left me upset and a tad annoyed.

I am of course describing Roy’s selection of players to take over to Bulgaria, with only 2 starters from Sunday likely to get a part in tonight’s Europa League group stage opener.

Sofia are no pushovers, far from it, so it seems as though Roy practically wants to lose. I understand, of course, this is not the case, but really, I can’t see any other outcome from this match.

Yes, realistically, the Premier League is more important. Yes, players are likely to get injured. Yes, the travelling will get to them too. However, what Roy hasn’t taken into account is the other travellers. You know?

The fans! This is no cheap trip for the healthy number that chose Sofia over a, more than likely, biased commentary on ITV4. Despite our lot digging out their wallets, it seems they would be no better off going to a reserve game, which I’m pretty confident in saying, is a bit cheaper.

A sweeping statement I know, but this is far from out strongest 11. I will support Roy and Fulham all the way. Nothing will make me turn my back on them, but, they’ve let me down today. (I’m sure ITV won’t be too chuffed either!)
