Fulham – A Replacement for Zamora?

With the news that we suspect Bobby Zamora will be out for at least a month, speculation mounts as to whether Roy Hodgson will be forced into the transfer market.

After picking up his shoulder injury, Zamora joins Diomansy Kamara on the growing injury list which leaves Roy, currently with Andrew Johnson, David Elm and Erik Nevland as his out and out strikers. Although we should point out that Clint Dempsey is more than capable of operating as a striker and has, in the past, scored regularly from that position.

But, with the January transfer window open, there is an opportunity Roy to enter the transfer market and sign cover, even on a temporary basis, a striker. Roy, though, remains cagey over such matters and is quoted in the papers this morning as having remarked,

“I`ll have to look at it but we are not in a situation where we are looking to splash loads of money around.”

“If someone is available at the right price and if they could help us out, we would be interested. But there are two big ifs in that.”

At Vital Fulham we`d hazard a guess that we`ll be erring towards a wait and see and who becomes available tact, don`t you!
