Newcastle`s 3-1 defeat of Middlesbrough has plunged Hull City into the bottom three.
After making such a bright start to their first season in the Premier League, including a first day defeat of us, Phil Brown has watched as his side has slowly dropped down the table and now they know they`re in dire straits.
At the moment it looks as if Hull can`t buy a win and the people of Humberside must be fearful of what the rest of the month holds.
Back in January a certain Jimmy Bullard joined ‘The Tigers` amidst a fanfare of glory. Our Jimmy was seen as another piece in a jigsaw that was supposed to cement Hull`s place in the top flight, the fee paid surprised many people as did the departure of Bullard from Craven Cottage.
In hindsight though Roy knew exactly what he was doing. In Bullard`s absence Dickson Etuhu has flourished and the midfield has less of a headless chicken look about it. But, we should never forget the role Bullard played in keeping us up.
His return from that horrific injury, in a way; kick-started our season and his goal, against Aston Villa, gave us hope that the impossible could be achieved. Also, his effervescent personality provided that spark that many thought were missing.
Off course, Jimmy is now sidelined once again and whilst some have voiced concerns about his return I have no doubt we`ll see the old Bullard return soon, my only fears are that somebody I had a liking for and who was on the verge of gate-crashing Fabio Capello`s England squad, on a permanent basis, could now be languishing in the Championship playing for a side who gave it their best shot but who will struggle to return!
