After disappointingly losing up at St Andrews, on Saturday, Fulham got back to winning ways with a convincing win over Blackburn Rovers.
Blackburn had arrived at Craven Cottage basking in the glory of a decent 2-0 away win at Bolton and with their boss, Sam Allardyce, banned from being involved were keen to make it two wins on the trot, but that was not going to happen.
Rumours that Danny Murphy and Andrew Johnson might return to the squad for the game proved to be false but Roy Hodgson was able to call upon the services again of Erik Nevland who had recovered from a virus that kept him out of the Birmingham game.
The first half was a little scrappy with Fulham struggling to cope with the style of football employed by Blackburn. Any continuity in play was lost with the constant stream of aerial balls being played from the back.
However, with three minutes of the half remaining it was Fulham who got the crucial breakthrough when Erik Nevland raced into the box and beat Paul Robinson, at his near post, with a hard and low shot
The second half saw Fulham come more and more into the game and Ciint Dempsey, who did every thing right but score a goal in his role as a forward at Birmingham, achieved his pre-match wish of scoring.
With the home side controlling the match, Dempsey netted a brace, scoring in the 67th and 88th minutes, although Blackburn might consider one of those, a far post tap-in after Dempsey ghosted into the box, contentious.
The win moved Roy Hodgson`s side into the top half of the table and with three home games to follow things auger well for a push towards a top eight place.
Next up are struggling Bolton Wanderers this weekend.
