In the reciprocating fixture the honours were shared in a six goal thriller, this afternoon at Craven Cottage it was another six-goal thriller but relegated Reading took all three points.

The first half gave little indication of what lie ahead in the second with the action fairly muted. Fulham started well with Bryan Ruiz getting on the end of a cross from Damien Duff but the keeper was able to make a save.

Twelve minutes into the half Reading took the lead when John Arne Risse was adjudged to have fouled Hal Robson-Kanu in the area. Robson-Kanu kept his cool to send Mark Schwarzer the wrong way from the spot-kick,

Fulham tried to get back into the match and Dimitar Berbatov forced a save out of the keeper before the keeper, Alex McCarthy, produced a great save, from point blank range to deny Hugo Rodallega.

Half Time – Fulham 0 Reading 1

Reading started the second forty five minutes well with Jem Karacan slipping an effort wide of Schwarzer`s post. Then the ex-Fulham striker, Pavel Pogrebnyak, saw a header cleared off the line by Risse.

But the Reading pressure was to tell and our visitors extended their lead when Robson-Kanu scored a second goal. The goal came after Berbatov was denied a penalty and Reading broke quickly with Gareth McCleary seeing his shot deflect off a defenderand falling to Robon-Kanu who cut inside and beat Schwarzer with a curling shot.

Almost immediately, Fulham pulled a goal back when Ruiz played a one-two with Rodallega to fire home. But, shortly after Reading restored their two goal advantage when Karacan split the Fulham defence with a fine ball and Adam Le Fondre showed his strength to hold off a challenge before rounding Schwarzer to score.

Wit thirteen minutes to go Fulham were back into the game when Ruiz netted again, this time heading home a cross from Alex Kacaniklic. The home support were now hoping that Fulham could get an equaliser but those hopes were dashed when Rodallega saw a shot hit the woodwork before, seven minutes from time, Karacan collected a loose ball to fire home.

An entertaining game but not the result we wanted.
