Up against the leaders of the Championship last night, Fulham gave Burnley a tough test before losing a five-goal thriller by the odd goal.

Burnley arrived at Craven Cottage on a twelve game unbeaten run, going back to December 2015 and our visitors were to go ahead, despite Fulham making the early running, when Sam Vokes headed home from a corner.

Fulham didn`t buckle though and were level wen Ross McCormack demonstrated his scoring prowess with a powerful shot.

The Cottagers were more than holding their own and were to edge ahead in a compelling game when Moussa Dembele put away an excellent cross from Luke Garbutt.

But Burnley were to show why they are the favourites to return to the Premier League by equalising from the penalty spot after Joey Barton had been felled in the box with Sam Vokes getting his second goal of the game by converting the spot-kick.

With the game evenly balanced, Fulham were finally beaten when Burnley`s leading scorer, Andre Gray scored with a majestic strike.

The win was Burnley`s first at Craven Cottage since 1980 and with Middlesbrough losing at Rotherham, gives them a four point lead at the top of the Championship table.

As for Fulham, we`re still looking nervously over our shoulders at that relegation trap-door.
