Okay, the party fell a bit flat when Wilfried Zaha netted the second Crystal Palace goal to give the South London side an unassailable lead, but there were loads of positive things to take from a game in which Fulham dominated possession.
The fact that Fulham created some decent chances but were thwarted by an in-form Wayne Hennessey was one, on another day the Cottagers could have gone into the break leading by a couple of goals, but it wasn’t to be.
Also, with the club having been so prolific in the summer transfer window, it was great to see, even though there were seven new faces in the side, Fulham were able to slip into that distinctive fluent passing game we’ve become famous for in recent seasons.
Defeats are always difficult to take, but we’ll take this one on the chin and come back stronger, starting against Tottenham Hotspur, at Wembley, next weekend.
But, before then, we’d like you to try out our new feature, by rating the players, it’s simple and it’s quick, so please give it a try.
