Fantastic four

The admission has been made that Martin Jol is looking to bring in around four players, ideally two midfielders and two strikers. As his minimum it would seem.

Having lost Danny Murphy, who Jol said he wanted to keep but Blackburn’s two-year deal offer swayed it for him, and Dickson Etuhu, who was also allowed to leave for Blackburn as he wanted regular first-team football, Jol is looking to bolster the midfield ranks by two.

Hugo Rodallega and Mladen Petric have been brought in up top but having lost Orlando Sa, Bobby Zamora, Pavel Pogrebnyak and Andy Johnson the Fulham manager admits at least one, ideally two are wanted.

Much depends on what happens with the likes of Clint Dempsey, who he of course hopes eventually decides to stay!

One of those that isn’t going to be coming to Craven Cottage is James McFadden, Jol has dismissed speculation linking Fulham with a move to the Scottish free agent as “ridiculous”.
