He’s on his way to the top, but he’s got a little bit of work to do.
That was the verdict that one journalist issued when it came to Fulham signing Dutch right-back Kenny Tete. The defender joins us on a four-year deal with the club holding the option for another twelve months,
Speaking exclusively to Vital Fulham, Netherlands based football journalist James Rowe gave us a little bit of an insight into what Fulham can expect from the 24-year-old:
“He’s got a lot of pace, he’s got a good work rate although he does need to improve his concentration at times, it can be a little bit lapse at times. His best years are ahead of him. I think it’s a good deal really. He’s got something about him. Tactical awareness isn’t so bad, but I think in the Premier League if you make a mistake it could be fatal.”
Is Kenny Tete our best bit of business so far this window?
So by the sounds of it, we’ve managed to get a pretty good deal for the reported £3m that we have paid for him, and if he can continue his develop with us and carry on the upward curve, then we could really have a true bargain on our hands.
Of course the downside of it all is if we as a club don’t take all the steps forward that we perhaps should do this season and beyond (with some predicting us to go straight back down), but he can still take his game to the next level, then the money that we could get off the back of his sale could really help us out in the long-term.
Obviously that’s worst-case scenario, but this deal really comes across as one that features very few downsides for us.
