With Bobby Zamora so close to joining Roy’s revolution, it’s interesting to hear that we could well have had another face playing up front for us!

Freddie Eastwood, recently signed by our ex-manager, Chris Coleman, for his new team Coventry City, was once a possible Fulham target.

At the time, Eastwood was scoring regularly for Southend United and several teams were on his tail.

Coleman, in charge of Fulham back then, remarked after securing Eastwood for Coventry,

‘I watched him when I was at Fulham and came close to making a move.’

‘But he took the right route going to Wolves. I thought the next stop would be the Premier League but sometimes it doesn’t work like that.’

It’s worth noting that despite scoring for fun at Southend, Eastwood found the going a lot harder at Championship level for Wolverhampton Wanderers.

It looks like Coleman’s judgement, when he was at Fulham, was spot on!

  • well i think if coleman was given the cash that sanchez had to spend i think he would of done a good job if you think about he brough in some quality players for a few quid

  • would have done better than Sanchez I’m sure. I think we got lucky he didn’t come here, I remember when the press were linking us with him.

  • Eastwood is a good player would have developed better at Fulham then Wolves as a Fulham and Southend fan i wouldn’t have mind. You watch next year Eastwood will do well cookie knows how to handle a player like Eastwood!
