Eastwood was a Coleman Target?

Image for Eastwood was a Coleman Target?

With Bobby Zamora so close to joining Roy’s revolution, it’s interesting to hear that we could well have had another face playing up front for us!

Freddie Eastwood, recently signed by our ex-manager, Chris Coleman, for his new team Coventry City, was once a possible Fulham target.

At the time, Eastwood was scoring regularly for Southend United and several teams were on his tail.

Coleman, in charge of Fulham back then, remarked after securing Eastwood for Coventry,

‘I watched him when I was at Fulham and came close to making a move.’

‘But he took the right route going to Wolves. I thought the next stop would be the Premier League but sometimes it doesn’t work like that.’

It’s worth noting that despite scoring for fun at Southend, Eastwood found the going a lot harder at Championship level for Wolverhampton Wanderers.

It looks like Coleman’s judgement, when he was at Fulham, was spot on!
