Clint may now be playing for a club in North London, but there is a right old furor going on up on Merseyside.

Although Brendan Rodgers cleared the decks, for Clint`s arrival, by moving eight players out of the club, it transpires that Liverpool were, according to some sources, only willing to pay £4 million for a play Fulham wanted £6 million for.

Now on the surface, £6 million for a player that scores 20 goals a season, from midfield, looks a bargain but it appears that the Liverpool owners were not prepared to commit to the purchase believing Clint wasn`t worth that sort of cash.

Following the closure of the transfer window, Liverpool`s owner, John Henry, wrote an open letter to the supporters informing them that times were changing and he`d not put the club`s future in doubt by cavorting with financial dangers.

But, in our opinion, if he can`t see that Clint Dempsey was worth £6 million of anybody`s money then the problems at Liverpool Football Club run far deeper.
