After scoring the winning goal in a game that, barring an absolute disaster, ensured our survival in the Premiership, Clint Dempsey has reflected on the moment.

Dempsey, who has struggled to break into the team on a full time basis, has likened his strike to his goal in the World Cup against Ghana. Our latest hero discusses both goals and his ambition to become a regular starter at Craven Cottage remarking,

“They are the two most important goals of my career. Scoring the winner to keep Fulham up was as good as scoring in the World Cup.”

“It has been frustrating because I haven`t really been playing much. But today I was able to give something back to Fulham.”

“Next season I want to be a regular starter. I think I can be a success in English football – If I didn`t, then I wouldn`t be here.”

  • It’s a pity you can’t rely on Fulham and others beating Liverpool in the Champions League, merlin. If you could, then perhaps Chelsea might have a chance of winning it in your lifetime.
