According to reports today Roy is hesitating over a £5.5million bid for Hertha Berlin defender Josep Simunic.
The 30-year-old, who helped his country reach the quarter-finals of Euro 2008, has said he is ready to swap the Bundesliga for the Premier League.
However, Hogdson is unwilling to meet Hertha’s asking price and the deal could now be in doubt.
Reports are now suggesting that if the deal does fall through then Roy will try and persuade Mathijsen from Hamburg.
I would love to have Mathijen in our team alongside Hangeland. He is solid, good in the air and has some pace, plus he is Dutch!
