Also nestling in the transfer gossip of the Sunday Mirror is the inference that Fulham are keenly interested in bringing a big-money, well for us, striker to Craven Cottage before the transfer window slams shut.

With Hugo Rodallega no longer on the books Kit Symons could do with bringing in somebody to bolster the ranks and support Ross McCormack and Cauley Woodrow.

The man the Sunday Mirror has identified as our key target is the Watford striker Matej Vydra

Vydra was part of the Watford side that gained promotion to the Premier League last season, from the Championship, scoring 16 goals in the process. Signed from Udinese by Watford, the Czech is still only 23 years of age and would be a suitable long term investment.

A fee of £8 million has been mentioned but there is also competition for the player with our West London rivals, Queens Park Rangers and Hull City also reportedly showing an interest.

We`ll endeavour to keep you posted if there are any further developments.
