Fulham manager Chris Coleman is desperate for an away win, having not achieved one for the entire season!!!!
Coleman’s team have only taken three points from a possible forty-two away from home this season and despite good performances away to Chelsea, West Ham and Manchester United they still failed to take anything from the games.
Now Coleman is desperate to secure three points away from home and is hoping they will come courtesy of Everton on Saturday.
Former White Ray Houghton believes there is every chance of leaving Goodison Park with maximum points this weekend although he points out it will not be easy.
Speaking to Fulhamfc.com ahead of the Goodison trip, Houghton was quoted as saying:
?They haven’t lost at home since they played Liverpool between Christmas and New Year, and last Saturday at West Ham they came from behind twice to take a point when they really should have won. They’ve certainly got some resilience about them.
Houghton believes that the psychological factor has made things extremely difficult for Fulham to win away from home this season and that they must dispel of any doubts before the game.
?Sometimes in these situations, players have lost before they’ve even got out on to the pitch. But it just takes one win to get the belief back and from there, you’re flying again. Home or away, it’s still eleven versus eleven, and when your home form is so far removed from the away record, it shows how the mentality of the players can play such a big role.
?At home, Fulham are generally relaxed and confident and it’s shown on the bulk of occasions. Away from home, they’re naturally a lot more fearful.
?That said, the home record took a knock on Saturday, although I’m not sure many of us saw that one coming. Arsenal have certainly been under par this season, particularly away. Fulham, on the other hand, have been great at the Cottage, so I’m not surprised Chris felt he had a good chance going into the game.
?But like I said, there’s no reason why Saturday’s defeat can’t be used to positive effect this weekend.
?In a funny way, it could work in Fulham’s favour ahead of Saturday’s trip to Goodison. Chris will certainly be looking for a response from his players and he could get a great reaction. That said, Everton have been flying this side of Christmas.?
