When Collins John arrived from Fc Twente of Holland in two thousand and four, no one was quite sure what to expect especially as Fulham had just sold prized asset Louis Saha for twelve million pounds to Manchester United.

Collins made his full debut against Leicester City, scoring two goals earning the Cottagers three points.

With four goals in eight appearances things were going well for everyone. Collins, not starting every game was held in high regard by Fulham fans.

Then like an ice cream left out in the sun too long, things started to go wrong. Despite finishing as top scorer with twelve goals, he appeared on the pitch mainly coming on from the bench. Collins was non too pleased, either were Fulham fans, claiming he was too lazy, he doesn’t know the offside rule.

Then last season, Collins was twice on the brink of leaving Fulham for a healthy fee but the deals were never pushed through so Collins remained a squad player.

However after seeing out last season on the sidelines, it seems as if he is determined to make up for lost time. When he started against South China, he caused their defence much grievances despite not taking one of his several chances. His physical presence and powerful running proved a handful for the China defenders whilst not getting caught offside once according to my maths and closing down the defence on more than four occasions.

I for one am excited by Collins resurgence, making it feel like we have a new rejuvenated forward and I for one believe that John can start up a tummy tingling partnership with Diomansy Kamara.

Collins when given a fair chance will score goals and many of them, hopefully Sanchez gets the Dutchman to sign a new contract as it runs out next year and we can have a fairytail ending.

  • I’m still not convinced of what Aidy Boothroyd sees in Collins John but the Watford boss is a massive fan! A £3m move broke down though due to John’s demands – perhaps he started to believe his own hype and Sanchez has bought him crashing back down to earth?

  • i thought John didnt go to watford because he thought they weren’t good enough for him, he didnt want to go down the the championship and Aidy couldnt convice him they had a plan to come straight back! Just what I heard anyway 😛

I still reamin a big fan of this kid and of course this will be his make or brake season! His contact ends at the end of this season! So we wont get any money unless we sell him now! Which doesnt seem to be on the menu!!
