Coleman, Knight – The Future!

With our FA Cup exit, at the hands of Spurs, still fresh in our minds, Chris Coleman utters a few thoughts.

“Our positioning for the first two goals was terrible.”

“We looked naive and if we defend like that in the league we will find ourselves in a relegation battle.”

“We have thirty-two points at the moment, twelve points clear, but if we play like this that could soon be cut.”

“We thought we could get past Spurs. We were up for it, that`s why I’ve always played our strongest team”

Clearly, the defeat wasn`t something the Welshman anticipated, especially considering the poor recent away form of Spurs, however, once again when it came to the crunch we were left wanting in several areas, most notably in defence where basic errors left us facing an uphill battle.

These errors clearly affected one player, Zat Knight, who became embroiled in an angry exchange with the home support as he left the pitch. The exchange, coming only a few weeks after the player returned to the squad after suffering a freak injury in a ‘friendly` tussle with his brother, was later regretted by the big defender with the club issuing a statement,

“Zat was unhappy with the result and as he was coming off the pitch a few Fulham fans were also unhappy and shouted at him.”

“Unfortunately, he shouted back, but immediately realised he was wrong to do so and apologised.”

“He realised that he had acted in the heat of the moment and that he should not have done so.”

Hopefully, the matter will now have been laid to rest and the club can pull as one to ensure we don`t get dragged into a relegation battle.
