Chelsea Sneak Point.

Chelsea had the majority of possession today but were still lucky to come away with a point as Fulham missed several great goal-scoring opportunities in the latter stages of the match.

Fulham were yet again denied another refereeing decision as Ben Haim handled in the box only for the referee, Martin Atkinson, to play on.

Shevchenko and Dempsey both missed good chances for their respective teams whilst John Terry had to be substituted after a head clash with Clint Dempsey resulted in a fractured cheekbone.

Chelsea were creating chances but Shevchenko was wasting then as well as that his touch looked distinctly average and it was no surprise when he was taken off that he was booed.

In the second half, Solomon Kalou wasted three good chances heading and shooting wide. Chelsea were creating chances by the minute however the more they missed the more restless the Chelsea fans became.

The turning point of the match came in the seventy fifth minute of the match when stand in captain Didier Drogba studded Chris Baird in the head when challenging for the ball.

After that Fulham saw their opportunity to earn three points but missed three great chances.

Bouazza fired wide after great play from Kamara, Paul Konchesky drew a fine save from Petr Cech after he found himself one on one with the keeper only to see his shot deflect off the Keepers boot and go wide and finally Diomansy Kamara fired a ball across the goal and Clint Dempsey was just inches from scoring.

So coming from Stamford Bridge feeling deflated is a strange feeling but a point is very pleasing as well.

Vital Man of the Match: Both Alexi Smertin and Steven Davis were absolutely fantastic but I’ll have to plump for the younger legs of Steven Davis for this accolade.

Vital Villain: Drogba’s challenge on Baird, which saw him sent off, was nasty.

Vital Watch: The Fulham Fans were fantastic today, out singing their Chelsea counterparts.
