Fulham`s attempts to sign the Cardiff City left-back, Joe Bennett, have ended in failure.

Yesterday afternoon, it was announced that although the 27-year-old was flattered by Fulham`s interest in him, the former Aston Villa defender was happy at Cardiff City and would be staying at the club.

Talking about Bennett`s decision to remain at Cardiff, who are currently top of the Championship, the Cardiff City manager, Neil Warnock, had this to say,

‘He was offered a very good contract. It speaks well for the lad and the club where we are, when you can turn that down.

‘Its been difficult for the lad, he’s had all sorts thrown at him over the last few days,

‘Once they met his release clause it was up to him to say yes or no really.

‘Joe has been playing well, he can see what we are doing.

‘His wife is happy down here and she is eight months pregnant, I think.”

Fair enough, some you win and some you lose, time to look elsewhere.
