Losing 2-0, courtesy of two early goals against Preston North End, at the Cottage on Saturday, it was great to see Tom Cairney make an appearance for the second half.

The 26-year-old midfielder is a player that makes all the difference when he`s in our starting eleven and it is fair to say that Fulham have missed him whilst he`s been side-lined with a knee problem.

However, it would appear that Cairney`s knee problem is far from over with the Scot remarking to the media after the game,

“It`s been the most frustrating start to a season in my career.

“I`ve had this problem in my knee and, if I`m honest, it hasn`t gone 100 per cent yet. I still feel it.

“But I`m trying to get over it, trying to strengthen it.

“It was a hard 45 minutes for me, but it was great to be back again.

“It`s a constant pain that I can`t get rid of.

“We`re working hard behind the scenes to sort it out but it`s difficult.”

Here`s hoping that the problem can be sourced and fixed permanently.
