Fulham crashed to defeat at the Pirrelli Stadium this afternoon, against Burton Albion.

After getting their first home win of the season, last time out, against Hull City, hopes were high that the Cottagers could go on a winning run that would see them climb up the Championship table.

But it just wasn`t to be.

Perhaps the indication that it wasn`t going to be our day came when Burton Albion took the lead courtesy of a goal from Stephen Warnock, who was on hand to tap-in at the far post. It was Warnock`s first goal in over three years.

But, pushing forward, Fulham did go in level at the break when Oliver Norwood unleashed a low shot from some distance out that found the far corner of the net.

The second-half saw Fulham dominate possession but once again the Cottagers were to fall behind when the referee, Stephen Martin, awarded what the travelling support perceived to be a dubious penalty.

The referee pointed to the spot after he believed he saw some pushing in the area from a corner. Lucas Akins strode up and beat David Button, from twelve yards out.

Burton had other chances to score in the match when Jamie Allen saw his effort hit the post and Button produced good saves to deny both Akins and John Brayford.

Fulham could have snatched a point but Sheyi Ojo saw his effort crash against the bar whilst Ryan Sessegnon almost scored after a thrilling run.

The defeat sees Fulham remain 13th in the Championship table some seven points behind the leaders Leeds United.
