The news that Michael Brown has been banned for three matches following his ‘alleged` head butt on Xabi Alonso, doesn`t surprise us.

The incident that was missed by the match officials was inevitably picked up by those who monitor every aspect of our game. Yesterday, Brown appeared before a Football Association disciplinary hearing and despite denying the charge, was found guilty of violent conduct.

Brown will subsequently miss the visit to Middlesbrough this Sunday and also the first two games of the 2007-2008 Premiership season.

Unfortunately, the ban serves to underline the stats that Brown is the dirtiest player in the top flight sharing top spot with Kevin Davies of Bolton, both registering eighty-six fouls.

Despite this, it`s doubtful whether any of the Craven Cottage faithful would seek to change anything with regards to his style of play, his combative nature has seen him drag the team along in several occasions.

Have a nice rest Michael.
